The Last Out is a live, interactive trivia game integrated within the Chuck App, designed to challenge players’ knowledge with timed, multiple-choice questions. Players compete to answer 12 questions, advancing through levels of increasing difficulty. Each correct answer earns points, and players have one extra life to keep them in the game if they answer incorrectly.
The game features two modes: Regular Mode, where active players strive to reach the final question, and Bench Mode, which allows eliminated players to continue answering questions for reduced points.
As the Senior UI/UX Designer, I was responsible for refining the initial game mechanics, requirements, and UI concepts provided by the development team and Product Owner to create a seamless and engaging experience for The Last Out.
I began by designing a dynamic, sporty logo that embodies the competitive spirit of the game. Following this, I conducted user research based on the project requirements and collaborated closely to review the user journey, ensuring that navigation and mechanics aligned perfectly with the outlined objectives, delivering an intuitive and immersive gaming experience.
As the Senior UI/UX Designer, for the user interface, I strategically used purple for Regular Mode and blue for Bench Mode, aligning with the Chuck brand’s aesthetics and ensuring intuitive differentiation between active and benched states.
These choices enhanced the game’s visual appeal and supported seamless navigation across its features, including countdowns, answer displays, and live player statistics. The result is an immersive, user-friendly gaming experience that blends Chuck’s brand identity with engaging mechanics.
After finalizing the designs, I developed interactive prototypes for both Regular and Bench Modes to simulate the gameplay experience. These prototypes were tested with real users to gather valuable feedback on usability and accessibility. Through this process, I identified and addressed potential challenges, ensuring the final interface was intuitive, functional, and accessible for a wide range of users.
